By receiving, storing and analyzing flight data, the boards of the country's 17 airports and calculating flight delays help passengers make a data-driven choice

Delays in domestic flights is a problem that many have experienced it. In order to protect the rights of passengers, the Civil Aviation Organization has adopted Regulation 2040, which forces airlines to pay certain fines in case of cancellation or flight delay. However, this did not reduce the flight delays in the country. The existing problems can be summarized as follows:

• Impossibility of selecting flight lines through a data-driven process due to lack of data or services based on it;

• Lack of knowledge for passengers about their rights as well as flight delays, and as a result, no demand for fines due to cancellation or flight delays by passengers;

• Intentional change of flight signs by airports (in order to prevent registration as a delay), and the impossibility of monitoring and reporting it.

In this project, Transparency for Iran tried to reduce some of these problems by developing a low-cost system for the country and to make people aware of their rights.
