A civic tech organization in Aomori Prefecture where students, universities, and business professionals collaborate.

Code for Aomori originated in 2012 when volunteers from NPO Chiiki Johoka Model Kenkyukai and Aomori University began grassroots open data activities. In November 2018, it was reorganized as a civic tech organization to more broadly promote the social participation of IT and digital talent. It provides pro bono social participation opportunities — especially for corporate IT professionals and students — to collaborate across generations, find new motivation through civic contribution, and co-create openly with local communities. Key activities include data visualization of regional issues, civic tech event hosting, and connecting government agencies with digital talent.
