Rocking the vote in France

Launched in 2021, “A Voté” (“I voted!”, in French) is a NGO dedicated to voting rights, with a focus on youth participation. In France, our last elections saw the lowest voter participation in 60 years. Less than a ⅓ of voters went to the polls. 87% of the 18-35-year-old have not voted. A root cause of this is that some voters can’t go to the polling station on election day, as they no longer reside where they are registered. Another issue is that 3 to 4 million people are not registered to vote at all, due to bureaucratic red tape or lack of information. This means that they are not even accounted for in official abstention figures. A Voté aims to remove obstacles (administrative, informational, confidence) to electoral participation in order to enable a functioning democracy.  Our WhatsApp chatbot sharing information about how to get registered to vote has reached 400 000 citizens. Our campaigns on mal-registration and the rights to participate in elections (targeting 18-35 youth) has reached 4 million people. Our network of volunteers is now 500 persons strong, and we have successfully carried out partnerships with the French government to ease administrative burdens to registration, promoting these new processes using ad campaigns and music festivals.  Join us ! We need you to get people to register and vote for the european elections coming in June 2024 !
