NYC's open participation platform (using CitizenLab) to get public feedback on government use of tech
The NYC Peoples' Tech Assemblies is a series of roundtable events with support from our partners and volunteer facilitators across all five boroughs of our vibrant city. Our goal is to engage New Yorkers in discussions around their concerns and ideas of how technology plays a role in their daily lives. Given that technology and data are integrated into every aspect of life, we recognize the need to create a dedicated space for the issues New Yorkers face. As a part of the NYC Peoples’ Tech Assemblies, we ask you to listen and discuss how technology impacts you in the following areas: Infrastructure & Environmental Justice; Justice, Health Equity & Safety; Housing Equity; Civic & Community Empowerment; Education & Opportunity; Smarter Communities; Effective & Open Government.
The New York City Office of the Public Advocate, The Office of the Manhattan Borough President, BetaNYC, New America’s Public Interest Technology team, CivStart, Urban Tech Hub at the Jacobs Cornell-Technion Institute, The College of Staten Island, volunteer advisor Ariel Kennan and a collection of volunteer facilitators are inviting you to share your ideas and questions on how NYC government uses technology. Through a series of in-person and virtual events and with support from volunteer facilitators across all five boroughs, we will engage with YOU on how technology plays a role in your daily lives.
