An open, civic tech community in public safety and crime.
Founded in 2017, Police Rewired is a civic tech community focussed on projects and events in public safety. Members are developers, designers, data scientists, criminologists, crime scientists, academics, students, and serving police officers and staff – all interested in finding new ways to tackle age old problems in policing, crime and public safety.
Each year we run our annual hackathon, Hack the Police. In 2020 we ran Hack Hate, our hackathon against hate crime, for the first time.
Our community gathers on discord for events, and to collaborate on projects. We welcome volunteers, and help to promote project teams with new ideas.
Police Rewired is an open, welcoming community. We don't tolerate racism, harassment, bullying, discrimination or any other behaviours that would cause any person to feel uncomfortable – in person, or online. All our events have a code of conduct that all participants are asked to sign up to before participating.
