MyCandidate, ingests electoral candidate data, to present it in a way that all voters can understand on a widely-accessible web-based platform. A Minimal Viable Product has been created and used in the South African (2019), Kenyan (2022) and Nigerian (2023) elections with over a million unique users, millions of impressions and deep impact stories. The MyCandidate Project aims to get citizens to engage in politics and democracy and to have an informed voice. In South Africa, relevant civil society organizations don’t have a reliable source of objective information useful for creating informed, collaborative strategies to impact democracy and accountability. Through this project we work with residents, voters, formal and informal community groups, local governments and Civil Society Organisations. Through a process of research, design and development we aim to continue to develop this tool that will aggregate data from multiple sources, electoral commissions, and news and social media to empower the democratic process in Africa.
Please reach out to us if you think MyCandidate could benefit your country during elections, we are always open to exploring new partnership opportunities.
