The concept behind 'direct aid' is that rather than disburse money and other resources through many layers of intermediary NGOs, aid groups and donors should give the funds directly to the intended beneficiaries. Some research has shown that beneficiaries are more than capable of using these resources for their highest-priority needs, and that direct aid can be a far more efficient approach per dollar invested.
